Senior Accountant - $80,000 a year

Express Employment Professionals of Mount Vernon is recruiting a highly skilled Senior Accountant to join a trusted medical facility. The Senior Staff Accountant is responsible for the organization’s accounting system including general books and ledgers, preparation of balance sheet account reconciliations, chart of accounts and reporting. Under supervision of the Controller, this position provides administrative and technical skills in the accounting department for budgeting, statutory reporting, departmental income statements and audit support. What you get to do:

• Assist Controller and Senior Leadership Team in preparing Annual Operating and Capital Budgets
• Assist Controller and CFO in preparing Annual Cost Reports
• Design and develop departmental productivity reporting tools for flexible staffing oversight
• Reconcile assigned Balance Sheet Accounts following Generally Accepted Accounting Principles including Deposit Holding account. Reviews computer reports for inconsistencies and corrects as needed
• Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual state tax returns—B&O, Sales and Use, etc.
• Prepare and review monthly journal entries for payroll and fixed assets using outside software applications whether interfaced or not into current accounting general ledger
• Assist Controller and Decision Support Analyst in preparing Annual Disproportionate Share Hospital Application
• Oversee and reconcile complex subsidiary/affiliate general ledgers for physician practices
• Member of Meditech General Ledger Team under the direction of the Controller
• Serve as a resource to Department Managers and Senior Leaders for budget/actual variances throughout the year including interrelationships with other accounting and statistical data
• Work with outside auditors and firms as directed by Controller
• Develops and implements accounting procedures by evaluating current procedures and recommending changes to improve internal controls, compliance, timeliness and accuracy of records and reports
• Protects organization’s data by keeping information confidential
• Review and approve monthly Accounting Specialists check lists of monthly sub-ledger close in Meditech
• Represent Accounting Department in Management meetings when the Controller is unable to attend 

What you need to be successful:

• Eight years of general accounting experience
• Two years of accounting at senior staff accountant or equivalent level
• One or more years of healthcare experience preferred

Schedule: Monday through Friday from 8:00AM to 4:30PM

Pay: $80,000 a year
